How long should I be in pain before I see a Chiropractor

How long should I be in pain before I see a Chiropractor?

Sooner is always better when determining the right time to see your chiropractor. Even if movement is completely inhibited there is still a lot a chiropractor can do, such as obtaining a proper diagnosis to determine if further imaging or referral is needed, or passive modalities for holistic pain relief.

Why should you see a chiropractor sooner than later?

Pain can be broken down into categories based off of how long it has been occurring. These categories are,

  • Acute (1-3 days)
  • Subacute (3 days to 2 weeks) and
  • Chronic (> 2 weeks)

Once an injury or pain gets into the chronic stage, it becomes increasingly more difficult to treat, for a number of different reasons. Pain that has began occurring more recently is much easier to manage.

At Gallatin Valley Chiropractic we are certified in all of the newest modalities, such as dry needling. Dry needling is an excellent way to decrease muscle tension and inflammation passively, meaning there is no movement required. So, if a patient is scared to be adjusted do to pain with movement, a passive modality such as dry needling is a great option.
