Pregnancy and Chiropractic
Pregnancy is such an exciting time for you and your family! It comes with many emotions and feelings such as elation, happiness, joy and anticipation. Often times, however, pregnancy can include anxiety, fear of the unknown and low back pain. It makes sense though - Your body is growing a human! It is undergoing changes DAILY to prepare your body for what is to come. Ligaments are becoming loose to accommodate for a growing baby and your muscles are spasming to stabilize your pelvis as it widens to prepare your body for labor and delivery, among other changes.
Our bodies are AMAZING! The back and hip pain that goes along with that is not though. You might be noticing pain in your hips, pubic area, low back or shooting down your legs. This is where we come in! Chiropractic adjustments are proven to help reduce low back pain during pregnancy. Adjustments can also help decrease the duration of your labor and the intensity of your labor pains. Over ⅔ of moms notice a significant benefit to getting adjusted during their pregnancy!
At Gallatin Valley Chiropractic, Dr. Rachel Rising is certified in the Webster Technique and treats pregnant women and children every day. Her passion is restoring balance to their bodies so they can continue doing the things they love throughout their entire pregnancy. What is the Webster Technique? The Webster Technique is a specific analysis and adjustment to your sacrum (tail bone) that helps restore balance to your entire pelvis. It helps reduce hip and back pain by improving spinal function and can lead to many benefits during your labor and delivery. Such benefits may include enhancing pelvic contraction, improving uterine function and helping baby get into a favorable position for childbirth. All these factors commonly affect the difficulty of labor and delivery (dystocia).
Are Chiropractic adjustments safe during pregnancy? YES! Numerous studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments during your pregnancy are proven to be safe and effective. The Webster Technique is gentle and specific, and provides your body with the correction it needs to reduce your back pain and positively enhance your birth experience.
