Anytime we at Gallatin Valley Chiropractic adjust anyone, we want it to be exactly what the patient is looking for. This is the same for every adjustment we do. We never want our patients surprised or displeased with our adjustments. This being said, communication between the patient and the doctor is always stressed and executed. Overall, our adjustments can be as gentle or as powerful as the patient desires.

Feeding off of the last paragraph, some people need a chiropractor that can get things to move when adjusting on their side, and aren't afraid to give the adjustment a little extra oomph. Our doctors are confident in their ability to be able to combine power and finesse allowing those patients who want a more powerful adjustment, and to know their adjustment was successful, when most chiropractors were not able to do so.
There is more than one way to skin a cat. Adjusting on the side is not the only way to adjust the pelvis and low back. There is also the drop table adjustment, which is done by propping the table up at the level of adjustment with the patient face down, and the doctor will apply a force into the low back or pelvis where the misalignment or joint dysfunction is in order to get movement. This is very comfortable for patients, and require no twisting.
Hearing pops and cracks when adjusted on your side is completely healthy and normal. The sound you hear is simply gas being released from between the joints in your spine when movement is encouraged. The direction of movement placed into your spine during the adjustment is determined by where movement is restricted. This is how chiropractors know where to adjust, it is based off of where and what direction the joint is not moving.
