Pain between the Shoulder Blades helped with Chiropractic Care

Why do I have Pain Between the Shoulder Blades

Pain between the shoulder blades is a very common symptom people experience, often times because of overworking and over stretching the muscles. As many Americans are required to sit behind a keyboard most of the day, our body's adapt to keep our arms in a comfortable position which is most likely in a forward hunched, shoulders rolled forward position. This adaptation causes the muscles to become strained in that area from constant elongation resulting in stiffness and burning pain. This occurs when we round or arch our backs to adjust to the keyboard height. By improving posture and strengthening the effected tissues, pain can subside. Chiropractic treatment and exercises can assist in the recovery process greatly.

There are also muscles that are constantly contracted (shortened) when working out front of your body all day at the computer or desk. These muscles include,

  • Pectorals and the muscles on the back of your neck such
  • Spinalis cervicis
  • Splenius capitus and
  • Rectus capitus posterior major and minor.

The chiropractors at Gallatin Valley Chiropractic are trained in releasing these key muscles providing tons of relief.

Another cause of burning or stabbing pain between the shoulder blades is a misaligned vertebrae or rib. This can be caused by auto accidents, injuries, or even an incorrect sleeping position. Pain from these misalignment's can occur when bending, twisting and even regular breathing can be painful. To treat misaligned vertebrae or ribs, chiropractic manipulation is very successful. Other causes of pain between the shoulders can be referral pain, heart conditions, gall-bladder disease, cervical disc herniations, etc.
