First Snow Fall of the Season!

First Snow Fall of the Season!

With the first snow of the the season gracing Bozeman, your doctors at Gallatin Valley Chiropractic would like to remind you to drive safe, leaving plenty of room between your vehicle and others and allow plenty of room to stop because roads are slippery.  The first snow falls of the season, typically, bring more auto accidents than other times of the year.

While the new snow is beautiful and brings on urges to get into the mountains and play, please, remember that rocks and obstacles are barely hidden under that blanket of white. Please, ski, ride and sled with caution...we want to be able to play all winter, not just in October.

Early season avalanches are common. According to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, Montana often claims some of the season's first avalanches and avalanche fatalities nation wide. Please be cautious when traveling in steep snowy terrain; this includes hunters.  Crossing snow gullies can be dangerous, even if on foot.

Finally, please remember to lift with your legs, bending at the knees and hips instead of the low back when shoveling snow (See Blog: Tips for Safe Snow Shoveling).  Early season snow is heavy and wet compared to what we get mid-winter. While that is great for building a base in the mountains, it can be tough on the back here in town.  Try to be cautions and protect yourself.

If you do find yourself suffering from playing too hard, from snow shoveling or from a fender bender, come see your doctor at Gallatin Valley Chiropractic for the care you need.
