How to choose a chiropractor- Bozeman Montana

How to Choose a Chiropractor

1. Confidence with Honesty

A chiropractor should gain confidence with his or her patients by first taking the time to do a proper exam in order to accurately diagnose each individual patient.  This should include distinct and separate treatment for each patient condition.  Confidence reflects one's pride in providing a proper service and treatment to achieve the greatest results for the patient.  Your chiropractor should recommend the best and most effective care for your specific condition.  If chiropractic care is not the best treatment for you, a good chiropractor will have no problem referring your case to another physician to better manage your condition.

2. Chiropractic Techniques

There are a wide variety of chiropractic techniques and procedures of treatment in chiropractic. Each individual technique may work well for certain patients, but there is no single technique will work perfect for everyone. This being said, chiropractors that guarantee results should be avoided (and it is illegal as well).

3. Word of Mouth

This is the best place to begin looking for a chiropractor. Ask a friend, neighbor, or other physician for names of chiropractors that they feel are competent and trustworthy.  It is very easy to appear trustworthy in a newspaper or phone book advertisement, but you will find it much more success finding a quality chiropractor by listening to others around you that have experienced chiropractic care firsthand.

4. Appropriate examination, diagnosis, and treatment

Having an appropriate exam is extremely important. Doctors of chiropractic are educated with extensive training to become health care physicians. This includes providing proper examinations and diagnosis to determine the best treatment.  How do you know if you are receiving a proper exam? Your doctor should talk with you about your personal health history, ask very specific questions about your symptoms or injury, and do a physical exam with orthopedic and neurological tests.  If your chiropractor sets up an extended treatment plan (more than 3-4 weeks) without re-evaluating your condition, it's in your best interest to find another chiropractor.

5. Payments

You should hesitate with any practitioner who asks for a large payment up front for initial or extended chiropractic care, as this will not be in your best interest.  You want to find out how your doctor treats you each visit before committing to any future treatments.  If you are wanting to submit your care to insurance, make sure the clinic accepts your specific insurance before you enter.
